Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you think therapy is important?
Our society doesn't give us the permission or the tools to express ourselves in a way that is healthy, to be open about how we feel, to live authentically, or to heal from mental illness or emotional struggles. Because of this, most of us are walking around with our systems overstressed and our feelings suppressed, resulting in depression, anxiety and so much more! My desire is to create a space that doesn’t exist in our day to day lives, that allows you to be authentic and expressive. When we do this, we leave room for creativity, health, and abundance that we can share with ourselves and those around us.
I can’t shake my past. I have survived horrible experiences in my life. How will you help me?
The hallmark of trauma or other mental health struggles is a dysregulated nervous system. Through safe, gentle work we will slowly work to bring your body and mind back into a more regulated state. Through sensation and feeling, we will work to help your brain re-integrate experiences and discharge unresolved tension patterns and stress from your experiences. Most all, I will be there with you, and help you heal through consistent, supportive, and honest care. You don’t have to go through this alone!
How does the therapy you offer works?
Finding the right therapist can be stressful, especially in California when you have many therapists and modalities to choose from! I won't be the right fit for everyone that comes through my door, and I am ok with that. I want you to give you the opportunity to decide for yourself, so I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation to give you and I the opportunity to discuss your needs and how I work.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults, teens, and families.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, by law I am not qualified to prescribe or give advice about medications. However, I can provide resources or recommendations for psychiatrists.
What are you rates?
My rates are $150 per 50 min session. I offered a sliding scale for those who are struggling financially and could not otherwise afford therapy.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I accept certain plans through Aetna, Blue Cross, United Healthcare, Oxford and Oscar. Reach out and I can verify If take your insurance!
