Somatic, Trauma-Informed Healing

Hi! I’m Meaghan, and I’ve been working with adults, teens and families since 2012, helping them break free from feelings of being trapped, overwhelmed, and stuck.

I believe inherently that no one is broken; we all have the capacity to heal. If you’re feeling broken, it’s likely because your body is in a protective state—fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown—that prevents you from accessing your true potential. These states are wonderfully protective, when we need them in times of danger and hardship. However, once we are no longer in need of protection, our nervous system often needs to help to release these states.

Symptoms of unreleased protective states include: Depression, chronic anger, anxiety, feeling stuck/trapped in your life, chronic overworking, feeling like you cant slow down, addiction, ADHD, chronic pain/fibromyalgia, panic attacks, and PTSD to name a few.

I use Somatic Experiencing (SE), a somatic, body-based therapy, to work with these protective states, heal your nervous system, and release the physical and emotional layers of the past. In addition to SE, I also incorporate attachment theory, parts work, and relational approaches to healing.

Invest in your emotional wellbeing

Anxious? depressed? Angry? Navigating emotional states can be tricky and sometimes confusing. At times, we may not know why we feel what we feel. I I can help you better understand why certain emotions are coming up, how to process them, and connect more deeply with that they are trying to tell you.

Support your struggling teen

Helping our children navigate the ‘troubled’ teen years is no easy task! It’s common for teens to push parents away, and yet this is the time when they need them most. The complex behaviors of teens require patience, compassion for oneself, and often, outside help. I provide sessions for teens and tweens, as well, as supportive sessions for parents.

Let go of your past

Difficult childhoods of often follow us into adulthood. Traumas get ‘trapped’, or ‘stuck’, in our bodies when we didn’t have a way to safely discharge them, (that’s most of us!). You may feel intense emotions boil up—-like sadness, anger or depression or you may feel like you’re stuck or numb. If this is you, then chances are your body is holding onto some stuff that isnt serving you.
